Canna edulis plant

Cana edulis is an erect, herbaceous perennial plant producing clumps of stem up to 3m tall with large leaves  up to 60cm long and 18cm wide. The stems arise from a very large, thick and tuber-like rhizomes. The plant  has appearance  lIke a small banana. 

The plant is cultivated for its edible rooting .

Canna edulis is no where near as aggressive, and tends to stay where you plant it in a slowly spreading clump.

Canna edulis taste surprisingly similar to  mashed potato or water  chestnuts, very delicious boiled, mashed and smothered  in butter. 

Propagatin by rhizome , play them i mois  soil plant them  in full sun .
